How to Clean Baby Bottle Nipples

A new baby means a lot of new stress for parents. Feeding your baby can be a big trigger of that stress. Picking the right bottle, the right formula, and making sure your baby eats enough are just some of the worries new parents might face. But it's good to know that you can easily clean your baby's silicone bottle nipples without adding unnecessary stress to your home.

Instructions:

Before the First Use

1
Remove the silicone bottles and silicone nipples from the original packaging. Make sure there are no decals or other unnecessary items stuck to the bottles or the nipples

2
Add water to a pot and bring to a boil. The pot should be big enough to hold all of your baby bottles and accessories. And there should be enough water so that all of these items can be submerged.

3
Boil the baby bottles, silicone nipples and all accessories for at least five minutes. If you have too much to fit in one pot, it may be necessary to repeat this step several times. You can use the same boiling water for this.

4
Allow the bottles and silione nipples  to air dry on a clean towel. It's important that everything has cooled to room temperature before you try to use it.

In the Dishwasher

5
Separate all baby bottle parts, making sure especially that the nipples and rings are apart from each other.

6
Rinse each part under warm water, removing any caked on debris.

7
Place all small objects in a dishwasher rack that's designed for bottles and other small items. These racks are made to fit on the top rack of the dishwasher. Bottles and other accessories that are too big for the rack are able to run through the dishwasher on the top rack.

8
Run your dishwasher like normal.

By Hand

9
Fill a sink with hot, soapy water. Some people choose a soap that comes with bleach to ensure the bottles are clean and sterile.

10
Place the bottles and nipples in the water and allow them to soak for five to ten minutes. This helps loosen any caked on formula that may be caught in the nipple and the hot water helps kill any germs that may be on them.

11
Rinse everything under hot water, and allow to dry on a towel.

Tips & Warnings

It's not necessary to boil your silicone bottles and silicone nipples before each use. However, if you have well water, it may be necessary to frequently boil your bottles and all bottle accessories.
